Forum Rules

The SootMC Forum is a place that is intended to be a fun, friendly environment for the community to enjoy. With this in mind, we have set a list of rules that we expect all users to follow. By opting to use the SootMC Server, Website or Store, you agree to follow all rules listed below and in our Terms and Conditions.

Expectations

At SootMC, we expect all of our users to interact with the community and staff members in a respectful and welcoming manner. As such, any form of disrespectful behaviour will not be tolerated. This applies to all areas on our site including forum threads, replies, wall posts, linked content (videos, images and URLs), and account content such as usernames, avatars, etc.

Making User Reports

If you find any user or content that violates any of our rules listed here or in our Terms and Conditions, we ask that you report this content using our Support page as this helps us ensure that we remain a positive enviornment for all users.

Making Bug Reports

If you find any bugs around the Website, we ask that you head over to our Bug Report section and make a report. Please include as much information as detail as possible when reporting these bugs so that our team can better understand, recreate and resolve the issue as this allows to improve the browsing experience for other users.

Prohibited Content

Examples of content and behaviour that is not allowed, regardless of the intention, include (but is not limited to):

Abusive Content

We do NOT allow any harassment, bullying or any similar behaviours on our website. This can include but is not limited to: racism, sexism, homophobia, transphobia, antisemitism, ableism etc.

Inappropriate / Adult Content

We do NOT allow any jokes or discussions surrounding adult topics, malicious content, videos / gifs containing excessive flashing and/or noises to take place on our website, there are children who use these sites. Please respect that.

Spamming

Repeatedly posting similar / duplicate content, intentionally posting content in the incorrect sections, malicious links / scam links, replying multiple times to the same thread in quick succession, unnecessary linked content such as gifs / videos etc. Are all examples of spam and may lead to punishments being issued both on the SootMC server and on the SootMC website.

Threads Regarding Punishments

We ask that you keep any and all threads regarding any punishment, whether you believe it to be a false ban or not, to the ban appeals sections as to not clutter the forums with content relating to these punishments. This allows the team to review and amend any falsely issued punishments with better efficiency. You may appeal once every 60 days for your bans.

Low-Effort Content

Any posts or content that are plagiarised, include "copypastas", trolling or any other form of content that adds little to no value to the forum will be removed and any excessive posts of this nature may result in further punishment. SootMC forums are intended to be a welcoming environment and posts like these can come across as spam and can negatively impact the discussion.

Advertisements

Any advertisements posted on our forumus must follow the below limitations:

• Giveaways / Contests with store items or real life currency are NOT allowed.
• Any form of sale or trade that includes in-game items or store items using real-life currency are NOT allowed.
• Commissions for external services, such as art, should take place in private conversations and not in public forums.
• Advertisements for your in-game shop / trades are allowed, as long as they are only in exchange for in-game currencies or items.
• Commisions involving in-game services are also allowed, as long as they are only in exchange for in-game currencies or items.

Political / Religious Discussions

As these types of discussions can cause drama and make other users uncomfortable, any form of political or religious discussions are disallowed; however, your account content is allowed to reference your religious views if you wish.

Promotion of Social Medias (YouTube, Twitter, Twitch, Discord, etc.)

We allow social media links to be shared in the following locations:

• Relevant videos may be linked as a resource to extend your post, so long as the intention is NOT to advertise your channel.
• Your profile (wall posts, account details etc.) may include links to your social media.
• Any SootMC relating Discord servers can be posted in the appropriate sections that they related to (such as a SootSMP town discord)

Any self-promoting posts on the forum may be removed with or without notice at any given time.

Consequences

Any posts or content that infringed on these rules may be deleted with or without notice and users will receive a warning when they break these rules. If a user receives enough warnings, it may result in a ban from the forums. These bans can be appealed through our Appeals section.

Other potential consequences for rule violations:

• You may be prohibited from replying to specific threads where your rule-breaking actions occurred.
• In-game bans may be issued for users who we find have caused severe issues.
• You may receive an IP ban both in-game and on the website for alternate accounts being used to evade punishments
